I don't necessarily consider myself to be the most internet-savvy guy around. I'm just an average Joe, with a love of video games and a wireless hookup. I first discovered the internet around 1995, or so, when I was in college, and while I surf pretty regularly, I've never delved too deeply into the technical aspects of it. I'm a lot more interested in what works, and how to use it, than it why it works.
So from that perspective, I want to talk about Google. Even the Web-semiliterate know that Google is a search engine, and a good one, at that. It's a free service, meaning anyone who can surf the Web can use it. It's paid for by advertising, like so much else these days, but the ads are unique. Instead of just pasting ads all over the page, Google uses the keywords you are searching for to bring up ads targeted to your interest at the moment! Pretty cool, I think. After all, internet ads can be obnoxious, but at least these are based on what you're looking for.
And what are you looking for? Well, anything. Just type a keyword into the search box, click the "Google Search" button. The search engine will scan the Web, and present you with a list of results. The results are websites that match your search term. The sites are presented, usually, in order of most to least relevant, but sometimes in order of most to least traficked. Either way, you should find what you are looking for within the first 10 hits.
So, if you type "flash games" into Google, the first page of results you see are all websites that offer free flash games on the public domain. Try it, and feel free to play away...
